In order to give undivided attention to his TV production 'Ganpati Bappa Morya', actor Adinath Kothare has been off the film circuit for a while now.
Known to be a stickler for details, Adinath has also been involved in the direction process of the serial and it was about time the actor announced his film directorial. Adinath will be making his directorial debut with a film titled 'Paani'. The film is a biopic on Hanumant Kendre, whose water-harvesting initiative led to his village Nagarwadi in Nanded district get enough drinking water even during summers, as opposed to the drought-like conditions before.
Adinath Kothare has decided to follow his father’s footsteps. After becoming a successful actor on silver screen Adi will be donning a director’s hat very soon.
Adinath recently told Marathistars.com that he is already working on the script for his directorial debut and film will be going on the floors by December 2016. “The film is titled as Paani. I have been working on this subject for past two years. I wanted to make an inspirational film and this real life story really moved me. It is a story of a guy named Hanumant Kendre. He is from Nagdharawadi- a small village in Nanded district. As the region is always draught-hit, what this person has done to conserve water is really motivating. How he struggled and fought with the nature and the system to make his village self sufficient in water is really interesting.”

‘माझा छकुला’ सिनेमाद्वारे बालकलाकार म्हणून सिनेसृष्टीत पदार्पण करणारा अभिनेता आदिनाथ कोठारे आता चांगलाच स्थिरस्थावर झाला आहे. अभिनयासोबतच निर्मिती आणि क्रिएटिव्ह डिरेक्टर अशा क्षेत्रातसुध्दा तो आपली मोहोर उमटवतोय. पण आता आदिनाथने वडिलांच्या म्हणजे महेश कोठारेंच्या पाऊलावर पाऊल ठेवलं आहे. लवकरच तो मराठी सिनेमाच्या दिग्दर्शनासाठी सज्ज झाला आहे. ‘पाणी’ ह्या आगामी सिनेमाच्यी निर्मिती आणि दिग्दर्शनाची धुरा तो सांभाळतोय.
मराठी धमाल डॉट कॉमशी बोलताना आदिनाथ कोठारे म्हणाला, “पाणी हे जीवन आहे आणि सध्या पाणी प्रश्न गंभीर होत चालला आहे. महाराष्ट्रातील खेड्यापाड्यातील जनतेला भीषण पाणीटंचाईला सामोरं जावं लागंतय. या ज्वलंत विषयावर मी गेली दोन वर्ष काम करतोय. मराठवाडा आणि विदर्भातील दुष्काळग्रत भागांचा सूक्ष्म अभ्यास करतोय. महाराष्ट्रातील पाणी साठा करण्याचा विडा उचललेया एका सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्याच्या कार्यावर हा सिनेमा बेतला आहे. नांदेडच्या नागधरवाडी या छोट्याशा खेड्यातील हनुमंत केंद्रे या व्यक्तीच्या जिद्दीची ही गोष्ट आहे. त्याचा हा आदर्श सर्वांसमोर ठेवण्यासाठी मी हा सिनेमा घेऊन येतोय. सध्या सिनेमाच्या स्क्रिप्टवर जोरदार काम सुरू असून लवकरच याबाबतची सविस्तर माहिती उलगडेल.”

He has even assisted in direction, in some of his home production TV serials. Now, we understand that Adinath is all set to make his debut as a director through his own production Paani.
For the past one year, Adinath, who is himself concerned about water conservation, has visited many drought affected areas to study the situation. Now, he wants to reach out to the entire world, about the importance of water conservation, through this film. At present, he is working on the script of the film and is expected to start the work on the film, very soon. The film is inspired by the work done by a social activist in Maharashtra, who has spread the water conservation methods among villagers. This being a very timely subject, we wish Adinath all the best.

Mahesh Kothare began his acting career as a child artiste. He acted in both Marathi as well as Hindi films. He directed his first Marathi film ‘Dhumdhadaka‘ , when he was 31 years old. This is what his son Adinath is doing today. Incidentally, like his father, Adinath too has performed as a child artiste. He too acted in Hindi as well as Marathi films. After acting in films, Adinath who is now 31 years old, is all set to direct his debut Marathi film‘Paani’ and the work on the script of this film is presently going on.
So, can we say that Adinath is following his father’s footsteps ? For the past one year, Adinath has toured many drought affected places in Maharashtra, to study the situation. At some of the places, he also saw some watershed management projects and was inspired to make a film on this subject. At present his project is in the pipeline and the details will be finalized soon.
